Introducing “Butterfly Touch for Carers”

Who is this course for?

Award winning Butterfly Touch Therapies Training would like to give special thanks to St Columba’s Hospice Care, Lisa Kerr Holistic Therapies Lead and the Carers who volunteered their time to participate in the creation of this workshop and course.

This training course equips carers with gentle touch techniques and holds, usable with the person they care for at home, or between two carers. These techniques bring comfort, relaxation, and peace to the cared-for individual, fostering a deeper connection. They also provide vital stress relief and relaxation for carers.

The dual aim is to improve carer wellbeing by preventing burnout, thereby ensuring sustainable, high-quality care.

EXCLUSIVE LAUNCH OFFER

January is often a time for fresh starts — but for carers, the demands don’t pause.

That’s why we’ve launched the Butterfly Touch Carers online course in January: a gentle, supportive programme designed to help carers bring moments of calm, connection, and relaxation into everyday care.

To celebrate the launch, we’re giving away a free video demonstration of one of the core techniques from the course:
a gentle, safe Hand Treatment that:

✔ Calms the nervous system
✔ Soothes anxiety or restlessness
✔ Brings comfort and grounding
✔ Strengthens connection between carer and cared-for
✔ Can be used by family carers and professional teams alike

This technique is quick to learn, works beautifully in care homes, hospices, community care, palliative settings, and at home — and supports carer wellbeing too.

The UK’s Unpaid Carer Crisis

The UK faces a growing demand for care services, outstripping current supply. With an aging population and more individuals living longer with chronic conditions, the need for sustained care is rising. Approximately 6.5 million people in the UK are unpaid carers—one in eight adults—contributing an estimated £183.7 billion in support annually.

These carers dedicate themselves to loved ones, often experiencing significant personal challenges. Many suffer from increased stress, anxiety, burnout, and social isolation, neglecting their own health and financial well-being. This strain can also negatively impact the quality of care provided, potentially leading to a breakdown in the caring relationship.

About Butterfly Touch Therapies Training

Marie is an award winning, fully accredited CPD Training Provider – having won the FHT Tutor of the Year award twice, and been a finalist three times, for her course ‘Complementary Therapies in Cancer Care for Reflexology, Reiki and Massage’. The course has also resulted in two of her students winning the FHT Student of the year award.

Marie’s journey into therapies began in 1994 when her Mother was diagnosed with cancer. She saw the relief and relaxation she received through Aromatherapy massage and Reiki at our local hospice. She also saw how much she missed the touch and valuable ‘me time’ when she became too ill to attend the hospice. This inspired Marie to become a therapist herself after her mother died, and soon progressed to becoming an accredited trainer, holding workshops all over the UK and Australia, before eventually converting her course into a hugely successful eLearning platform.

This new course, comes from a deep passion and belief that carers often go under the radar, and that they could benefit greatly from learning some gentle relaxation techniques.

Some Kind Words

The course was perfect. Very relaxing and informative. I also liked how you could see how to do things as a giver and a receiver
The biggest takeaway for me would be the breathing techniques, and the reflexology on the hands which can be done anywhere.
Going forward I feel I can learn to relax more.
